Actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout appearance in the iconic music video Kaanta Laga, passed away in Mumbai. She was 41. According to initial reports, Shefali suffered a sudden cardiac arrest late Thursday night, between June 27 and 28. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and three others. However, doctors declared her brought dead.
The exact cause of death is currently unknown. There has been no official statement yet from the family or her representatives.
Shefali Jariwala became a household name in the early 2000s with her sizzling performance in the remix video Kaanta Laga, earning her the moniker “Kaanta Laga Girl.” She later featured in Salman Khan’s Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
In later years, Shefali transitioned to reality TV and gained popularity through her participation in Nach Baliye with her husband, and later, Bigg Boss 13. Her entry into the Bigg Boss house was particularly talked-about due to her history with fellow contestant and late actor Sidharth Shukla. The two had dated over a decade ago, but Shefali maintained that they were always respectful of each other on and off the show.
Shefali was known for her outspoken personality and strong presence on social media. Her sudden passing has shocked fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry. Tributes have already begun pouring in on social media, remembering her as a “vibrant, fearless” artist who left a lasting impression.
Shefali is survived by her husband Parag Tyagi.
Bollywood singer Mika Singh expressed his grief on social media, writing, “I’m deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart… Our beloved star and my dearest friend @shefalijariwala has left us. Still can’t believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti.”
Actor Aly Goni shared an emotional tribute on his Instagram story simply stating, “RIP Shefali.” Other celebrities including Rajiv Adatia and Kamya Panjabi also voiced their disbelief and sadness over the loss.
